The team of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), which works along with the highest authorities of the Granma province in the confrontation and control of Covid-19, again warned about the poor quality of epidemiological searches to detect suspected cases of contagion with that disease.
This was revealed in the usual meeting of the Provincial Defense Council where Dr. Marcos del Risco del Rio, who directs the group of experts that works in this territory, stressed that the expected results have not yet been achieved and this places the province as the second with negative indicators in the country.
The specialist pointed out that the mountain areas should not be neglected, nor the isolate neighborhoods because that can further complicate the situation that Granma presents today, a territory that accumulates more than 1,500 people infected with the pandemic.
Del Risco del Río also said that the province has about 100 epidemiologists, who must be used more correctly in the fight against Covid-19 and achieve rapid detection of the source of infection.
During the meeting, Federico Hernández Hernández, president of the Granma´s Defense Council, indicated that all the municipal Defense Councils and their areas were activated and announced other necessary measures to face the new coronavirus.
Among these, he explained that all workers from the Provincial Sports Directorate (INDER), university students and cultural promoters will join the searches and that will increase the number of people in the neighborhoods who will work on this important task.
Hernández Hernández, during his speech, pointed out that another of the measures adopted is the opening of Etecsa shopping centers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays of each week to provide services that contribute to social isolation.
He finally said that Granma aims to detect at least two people suspected of contagion with Covid-19 for each doctor´s office, which will allow a better work in the confrontation and control of this dangerous disease.
