Young people from Granma remember these days Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (June 14, 1928 – October 9, 1967) and Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán (February 6, 1932 – October 28, 1959) with special events, walks to historical places, productive works and awards deliveries.
These actions began on October 8 and will last until October 28, within the Camilo-Che ideological journey, which this time also includes various activities using social networks.
Leidis Vargas Céspedes, official of the provincial Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), declared that the most important thing of the day is to follow the moral example of these two heroes, since both were expeditionaries from Granma, commanders of the Rebel Army, protagonists of the invasion of the West, props in the construction of the revolutionary process from 1959 and paradigms for the new pines.
“One of the main moments was the solemn act that we carried out on October 8 at La Otilia Command Post, in Buey Arriba, where Che spent a month in 1958 coordinating various actions in the war for liberation. In that intricate place, where today there is a museum, members of the new generations received the status of Youth for Life and prominent leaders were encouraged, ”added Vargas Céspedes.
In addition, he remarked that other historical places in Granma were chosen so that 150 girls and boys from various municipalities could receive the card that accredits them as members of that organization, whose emblem has precisely the faces of Camilo and Che, along with Julio Antonio Mella’s one.
For his part, Reynaldo Fernández Rivero, first secretary of the UJC in Granma, said that on October 28, following the tradition of several decades, the new pines will evoke the Lord of the Vanguard, although this time there will be no mass pilgrimages to throw flowers on the coasts or rivers, as the epidemiological situation of the province advises avoiding crowds.
