Delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power in Cuba are evaluating the biographies of the candidates for governors and vice governors in the upcoming elections of provincial authorities.
More than 12,000 local representatives will meet simultaneously on January 18 in each municipality to exercise their right to a free, equal, direct and secret vote, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic, which was proclaimed in April 2019.
Electoral Law 127/2019 establishes that the National Electoral Council (CEN) is responsible for reproducing and delivering to each delegate the biographies and photos of the candidates no less than 72 hours before the elections.
A mock election exercise was carried out last Sunday to ensure every detail was ready to undertake the vote.
The Constitution approved last year establishes that each province should be ruled by a Provincial People’s Power Government made up of a Governor and a Provincial Council.(PL)
