Cuban President highlights role of workers in society
The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted today the role of the workers in society, of whom he said that ‘they raise and sustain the Homeland despite blockades, wars and threats.’

In his Twitter account the president stressed that this May Day, although it will not be paraded in the squares, from the houses the people are already generating the most beautiful initiatives to participate from social isolation.

Previously, on the same social network, Díaz-Canel had referred to the convocation of the Central of Cuban Workers (CTC), which proposed an atypical workers party, given the circumstances imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Solidarity, songs, posters, flags and messages’ will characterize the date, but from homes, said the head of state.

Under the motto For Cuba, United We Will Win, the CTC Secretary General, Ulises Guilarte, called on Wednesday to display the Cuban flag in neighborhoods, communities and work centers, a synthesis of the struggles of the Caribbean nation.

Guilarte emphasized that this May Day the celebration will take place from homes, a decisive trench in the crucial battle against the new coronavirus, which requires greater social discipline, and individual and collective responsibility from everyone.

It will be in different conditions, but with the same enthusiasm and spirit of victory, he added, and recalled that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the concept of Revolution expressed by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
