Cubanity for the national culture

Within the framework of the celebrations for the Day of Cuban Culture, from the 10th to the 20th of the current month, the XXVII edition of the Fiesta de la Cubanía will take place in the city of Bayamo, Granma, a well-known space that will be dedicated this time to the bicentennial of the patrician Francisco Vicente Aguilera; to the Son as a musical genre and to the 60th anniversary of “Words to the Intellectuals”, a momentous event starring Fidel.

On next October 17, more than one hundred activities of artistic and literary essences will be able to be enjoyed by all audiences, most of which will be transmitted online through the VideosCrisol platform.

However, Yordan Roberto León Rodríguez, director of Culture in the province, highlighted that around 30 actions will be carried out in person, especially the functions in scenes and book presentations, for which the local theaters will reopen their doors, except the Bayamo one which is the subject of a renovation process.

For her part, Lourdes Ferrera González, deputy director of the organization itself, reported that during these days all the municipalities of the territory will participate in this edition of the Cubanía, to show their traditions, arts and customs, which will be represented by members of the José Martí Brigade and amateur performers.

The honor committee will be made up of, among others, the national music awards, Frank Fernández, pianist, and Wilfredo Pachi Naranjo, director of the legendary Manzanillo Original Orchestra, while Cándido Fabré, renowned improviser, as well as the directors of Culture of the provinces from Camagüey to Guantánamo.

As the culmination of this twenty-seventh edition of the Fiesta de la Cubanía, a cultural gala will be held in the early hours of October 20, a tradition of broad popular participation, where the scene of writing the lyrics of the National Anthem and its interpretation is commemorated on the part of the Bayamese settlers, then free from colonial control.
