The last group of the Cuban delegation that participated in the Tokyo Paralympic Games returned to their homeland on Monday afternoon. The first secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended the reception at the José Martí International Airport.
The small delegation, of about 10 people between athletes, coaches and managers, was led by the stellar sprinter Omara Durand and her guide Yuniol Kindelán, owners of three crowns in Tokyo 2020; the long jump holder Robiel Yankiel Sol (T46), and the silver medalist in that own T12 class event, Leinier Savón.
Cuba attended the Tokyo Paralympic Games with only 16 parathletes. The balance was four titles, one silver and one bronze, valid for place 35. Although lower than the performance of the two previous editions, the Cuban people and sports movement entertain their Paralympians.
