Elected Governor and Vice- governor in Granma

The delegates of the People´s Power of Granma elected Francisco Escribano Cruz, as Governor and Yanetsy Terry Gutiérrez as Vice governor, after a day in the 13 electoral colleges in which the municipal assemblies of Granma were constituted.

The election was confirmed through an informative part published on the official website of the National Electoral Council.

Simultaneously in the territories of Granma, the local authorities of the People´s Power exercised their right to vote. As established by the Electoral Law in force 72 hours in advance, the biographies of the candidates were known and before the vote the candidature was based through a deputy assigned for the act by the President of the Republic of Cuba.

With 98.41 percent of assistance and through the secret, direct and free vote, the new government authorities obtained the number of valid votes to be elected to office, as reported in each of the Municipal Assemblies, gathered as an electoral college for the occasion.

In the province 930 delegates of 945 summoned exercised the right to vote, on a significance day because this government body was introduced with the Constitution of the Republic endorsed on February 24, 2019 and proclaimed on April 10.

As planned, at 9:00 am the voting began in one hundred percent of the 13 municipal polling stations that were to be constituted for the vote by the governors and provincial vice governors, with 98.41 percent attendance.

On February 8, those elected for such positions, as well as the provincial councils, will take possession of their positions, and the provincial assemblies of the People´s Power will finally cease their functions.
