Electricity Union does not foresee any effects on the service if current conditions are maintained

The Electricity Union informs that if current conditions are maintained, it is not expected to affect the service.

The company reported that yesterday’s peak hours affected the electricity service from 6:49 p.m. to 7:18 p.m. (29 minutes) and that the maximum impact was 60 MW at 7:10 p.m. This occurred due to the load drop of unit 3 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Central Thermoelectric Central (CTE) at that time and the delay in the entry of unit 5 of the Diez de Octubre CTE, which synchronized the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) at 6:56 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience caused, he added in the statement.

In the note, he adds that the availability of the SEN at 07:00 hours is 2 383 MW and the demand is 1 845 MW with all the load served and it is estimated that there will be no effects on the electricity service due to a deficit in generation capacity during the morning and today afternoon to maintain the expected conditions.

Unit 7 of Otto Parellada and units 4 and 5 of CTE Diez de Octubre are out of service due to a breakdown. Under maintenance is unit 6 of the Diez de Octubre CTE and units 3 and 4 of the Antonio Maceo CTE. At Energas Varadero, 40 MW in the steam turbine is out of service and at Energas Boca de Jaruco a gas turbine with 30 MW. The limitations on thermal generation are maintained (572 MW).

For peak hours, unit 4 of the Diez de Octubre CTE with 70 MW is forecast, an engine in CDE Moa with 11 MW, and 307 MW will be used in diesel engines.

An availability of 2,810 MW and a maximum demand of 2,600 MW are estimated for peak hours, for a 210 MW reserve, if these conditions are maintained, no effects on the service are expected.
