The Base Business Unit (UEB) Enidio Díaz Machado, from Campechuela, fulfilled this Sunday its sugar production plan for the current 2019-2020 harvest.
Until this day, the “Enidio” produced 30,472 tons of sugar, but it will not stop its machinery as it aims to contribute another 4,000 to support the province in its commitment to the country.
The president of the Provincial Defense Council in Granma, Federico Hernández Hernández, sent a message of congratulation to the UEB workers for this result.
Despite the limitations imposed by the economic blockade of the State Government on Cuba and the confrontation with Covid-19, the workforce of the Campechuela´ mills achieved this goal with high levels of efficiency and quality of productions, the journalist Manuel Palomino published on his Facebook profile.
Three other mills in the province reinforce their efforts to bring Granma to 85 percent of the initial commitment (about 90 thousand tons of crude sugar), according to La Demajagua.
The source points out that the late beginning of the sugar harvest, due to the lack of some resources made Granma to readjust actions to even extend the mill until the end of May, if the weather conditions permit it.
The territory had planned to finish the campaign before the end of the first fortnight of May.
