Although there are no cases of coronavirus reported in the province of Granma, the eastern territory is prepared to prevent infection. The Health Directorate created a permanent command post composed of different sectors  from all the socio-economic field of Granma.

The Health Directorate created a command post from where the monitoring of all types of disease will be carried out, if it occurs at any time.

¨ The preparation for medical care of cases that appear suspicious is guaranteed. For this, we already have the conditions created in an isolation center, and in addition to that, human and material resources are guaranteed to be able to face this problem, from the primary health care and secondary care, said the Dr.Ciro Estrada, Director of Health in Granma.¨

One of the most important measures is training, not only on the new coronavirus, but on how to act on a possible diagnosis.

¨ More than 90 percent of workers in the health sector have been trained, in addition to that workers from other sectors such as self-employed, business, tourism workers, among others, added the director of health in the territory ¨.

The tourism sector also ensures the health of visitors who arrive at the Sierra Maestra International Airport in the city of Manzanillo.

¨ Through this airport we have the arrivals of the Canadian tourists who go to the Marea del Portillo-Farrallón Hotel Complex. There, all the conditions have been created to prepare the staff and also to inform the passengers themselves about what measures we are implementing to confront, combat and control the coronavirus, said Nancy Estrada, MINTUR Delegate in Granma.¨
