Granma is ready to carry out the election of the Governor and Vice governor, said Antonio de Marcos Ramírez, president of the Provincial Electoral Council after the trial exercise of that took place on Sunday 12th.
Ramírez said that the thirteen municipal and provincial electoral councils were activated to verify the assurances of the development of the election of the governor and vice governor to be held on January 18.
The conditions of the localities where the electoral colleges will function to gather the delegates to the municipal assemblies, who will exercise the right to direct and secret vote for the election, were checked.
During this procedures the conditions of the premises as, lighting, electricity, communications, the operation of the computer system, ballots, as well as the assistance of the pioneers who will guard the ballot boxes were reviewed.
The president of the Provincial Electoral Council added that with this step other indications of the new Constitution of the Republic are being fulfilled, and the province is ready to develop this election process on the 18th, every details have been taken into account.
Between January 13 and 14, the municipal delegates received the biography of the candidates for governor and vice governor, document for their study and then the exercise of the vote.
According to the new Constitution, candidates for governors are proposed by the President of the Republic of Cuba to the municipal delegates of each province for the election of the governor and vice governor, and on January 18, in each municipal electoral college, it will be presented by a deputy on behalf of the Cuban President.
