Granma reports 94 new Covid-19 cases

The province of Granma reported, this Monday, 94 new cases of Covid-19, the highest number during a day in this territory, since this pandemic began in Cuba.

Bayamo presents the most complex situation, with 67 cases, followed by Manzanillo (8), Jiguaní (8), Guisa (4), Niquero (3), Río Cauto (2) and Cauto Cristo (1), according to the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

“An extremely high figure, which shows the complexity that it is having and the transmission that has increased in this territory,” said Dr. Francisco Durán García, National Director of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Minsap.

All the patients reported on this day are contacts of confirmed cases, which is why they are included in the autochthonous category.

Today Granma has 199 confirmed cases, 535 suspects and 920 contacts. In addition, it accumulates 1047 confirmed patients, of these 928 natives and 119 travelers from abroad, 787 people have been recovered.

With these figures, the incidence rate in the territory rose to 53.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and eleven of its 13 municipalities are affected.

Yesterday, three patients were referred to Santiago de Cuba, a two-month-old baby, a one-year-old child, and a patient over 65 years of age, with associated morbidity.
