Granma hosts the central activities for the Physical Culture and Sport Day

The Granma province was chosen the venue of the main activities for the celebrations of the Physical Culture and Sport Day this November 19, due to the good results achieved in last stage.

According to Nuredin Rodríguez Corría, National director of sport stated that the work of the Voluntary Sports Councils was essential, to which special attention was paid due to the geography of our territory. In this sense, the qualified technical force served all age groups both in the Turquino Plan and in the plain, reaching places that were difficult to access.

He recognized the dedication of the workers in the sector that have allowed Granma to be at the forefront in the care of the systematic practitioner with about 50 percent of the population served from an early age to the elderly.

Rodríguez Corría referred to the fact that the territory is one of those that contributes the most athletes to national high-performance centers with more than 120. He also said that of the Cuban athletes classified to the Tokyo Olympic Games, two are from Granma, the cyclist Arlenis Sierra and the gymnast Marcia Videaux.

He expressed that intersectoral work has been essential, highlighting the INDER-MINED agreement that allows working with talented children from an early age. In this regard, she said that today all schools in the province have the teaching coverage of Physical Education teachers.
The central national gala for November 19 is scheduled for seven at night at the emblematic Bayamo Theater, with the assistance of the main authorities of Inder and the territory.
