Granma: The last two Covid-19 patients reported discharged from hospital

The two patients from Guisa who were reported positive to Covid-19, on May 2nd update, received medical discharge from the Joaquín Castillo Duany military hospital in Santiago de Cuba on Monday, the Directorate of Public Health in Granma confirmed.

Dr. Ciro Estrada García, director of the provincial health sector, explained at the meeting of the Defense Council that these two cases tested positive on a sample taken on March 26, and it was decided to repeat the study twice and they were negative.

“These patients were asymptomatic and it was decided – taking into account the decrease in their viral load – to carry out confirmatory tests,” said the specialist.

Estrada García clarified that there was no mistake testing these samples in the laboratories of Santiago de Cuba and these people were discharged from hospital.

Likewise, he added that the protocol to be followed with them “is to undergo home medical supervision for another 14 days, then to repeat a confirmatory test and theirs contacts must maintain movement restrictions.

This Monday, 32 PCR samples received Granma- all negative – and another 66 tests are pending results.

In addition, 172 people remained in isolation centers, 19 of these suspect cases.
