A cultural representation of the city of Bayamo participates in the celebrations for the 500 anniversary of Havana.
The varied delegation attends the academic and cultural promotion meeting entitled: “De la Primada a la Real y Maravillosa”. This event allows an approach to the native culture of each of the seven villages with 500 years and the invited province of Matanzas and Cienfuegos.
As part of the artistic representation of this territory, the Master of Science Ludín Fonseca García, historian of the Bayamo city, the theater group Andante, Arturo Jorge and his Tradition Quartet, the singer Ary Rodríguez, Las Mambisas project, the painter Rayven Friman, heritage specialists and other art exponents attend the meeting.
Until next November 14 the Palacio del Segundo Cabo, the Center for the Interpretation of Cultural Relations between Cuba-Europe, the Old Square and other spaces, host the event.
The meeting includes panels, literary presentations, exhibition of high-value objects representative of heritage cities and ancient traditions of each region.
Among the pieces display is the ceremonial sword of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the clothes worn by Havana’s Antonio ¨Ñico¨ López in the Assault on the Barracks of Bayamo on July 26, 1953 and the violin case that Manuel Muñiz Cedeño, orchestrator of the National Anthem, carried for many years.
Likewise, regarding the actions of the event the historian Ludín Fonseca García will participate in the Colloquium “The identity of the village, 5 centuries of history”, at the Palacio del Segundo Cabo.
The academic and cultural promotion meeting entitled: “De la Primada a la Real y Maravillosa”, was opened with performances by La Colmenita children’s theater company and the Arlequín Group of Camagüey, at the theater of the Third Order of San Francisco de Asís in Old Havana.
