The Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) synchronized today at 6:20 am with the National Electroenergetic System (SEN), after the damage that occurred on Tuesday afternoon due to an electrical discharge.
On the social network Twitter, the Electric Union (UNE) announced that they worked all night and early in the morning to solve the problem, caused by the impact of lightning.
“SYNCHRONIZE GUITERAS! After the damage caused by the impact of the Electric Discharge… they worked all night and early in the morning. 6:20 am the largest Unitary Block of the SEN went online again…”, refers the Electric Union (UNE).
According to Misbel Palmero Aguilar, general director of the Thermoelectric Power Plant, the lightning strike caused a difference between the voltages of the three phases (A, B and C) in the plant, which resulted in the subsequent output of the SEN as a protection mechanism.
The manager ruled out that the discharge could have caused other effects on the technology, so the immediate step is to replace the lightning rod.
