If there is an anti-Covid vaccine to trust, it is the Cuban one

If there is an anti-Covid vaccine that the whole world can trust, it is the Cuban one, said Elia Maritza Rodríguez, whose granddaughter was immunized in the vaccination campaign that continues today in Cuba.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Rodríguez assured that the administration of the national drug Soberana 02 to children from two to 11 years of age that began the day before on the Caribbean island is a cherished dream.
‘It is a dream much cherished by our country that our children at such early ages can be vaccinated and that they guarantee their life, health and protection against this disease. The Cuban family recognizes the efforts of many people to achieve these vaccines, ” she commented.
While accompanying his six-year-old granddaughter the day before, a student at the unified school (primary and secondary) Felipe Poey Aloy from this capital, she recalled that we have a platform created long ago in terms of vaccination campaigns for the population and, at her judgment, is a reflection of the Revolution’s commitment to the development of health.
‘We have been vaccinated since we are in our mother’s belly. Perhaps the world criticizes us that we are proudly the first country in the world to vaccinate its children, because we have a scientific basis for the development of this vaccine, ” he emphasized.
Faced with questions about the administration of anti-Covid drugs in children under 18 years old, he urged those people to document all the benefits they can bring to that age group to protect them from the disease, and to trust everything that Cuban science does for the health of our children.
On September 3, the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed), a national regulatory authority, approved the first mass anti-Covid-19 immunization campaign for children from two to 18 years old.
A day later, minors between the ages of 12 and 18 received the first dose of Sovereign 02, a process scheduled until November 5.
In addition to the scheme of the last one plus a third dose of Soberana Plus boosters applied to this age group, whose efficacy was 91.2% against symptomatic disease in its phase III analysis; students in grade 12, third year of technical-professional education as well as the last year of pedagogical training receive Abdala.
The latter, designed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, was the first Cuban and Latin American vaccine to receive authorization for emergency use, after demonstrating 92.28 efficacy.
The stated purpose by Cuba is that the entire population eligible to be vaccinated against Covid-19 receives at least one dose of any of the authorized schemes before the end of September.
