The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported, on Sunday, a new Covid- 19 case related to the province of Granma and now there are 13 infected since the first one was detected on March 19.
According to MINSAP, it is a 58-year-old Cuban citizen, who arrived from Mexico and resident in the mountainous municipality of Guisa.
The source specifies that as result of this situation15 people who had contact with her are kept under surveillance.
Doctor Francisco Durán García, National Director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, explained that this patient, a nurse arrived to Cuba with symptoms and the established isolation protocols were applied: she moved from José Martí International Airport to the ¨Pedro Kouri¨ Tropical Medicine Institute, IPK, where she remains hospitalized.
Likewise, Durán García explained that this situation does not change the epidemiological condition of the province, although the case is registered in the statistics of this territory.
Granma had not reported new cases of Covid-19 since last May 2 and had the lowest incidence rate of the disease in the country, with 1.46 per 100,000 inhabitants.
