The Provincial Council of Performing Arts in Granma begins this March with the good news that his colleagues from Sancti Spíritus proposed the teacher Juan González Fiffe, as a candidate to the 2021 National Theater Award.
With a broad artistic career, this actor, playwright and director has enriched the Cuban theater and especially the Granma´s theater with his constant work.
Member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, Honorary Member of the Hermanos Saiz Association, the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade and the International Marionette Union, González Fiffe represents love of culture itself.
Through his greatest creation, the Andante Street Theater group, this man who was born in Guantanamo, but Bayamo´s adopted son, has been able to bring dissimilar themes to the stage and to community spaces, where he prefers to develop his art.
Fiffe also plays a fundamental role in the training of future actors and actresses, so Andante takes on the work of an artistic-teaching unit.
Likewise, he has been at the forefront in promoting theoretical spaces for debate, such as the Filtro de Campaña, in the summer community meetings.
In this time of pandemic, he was a pioneer, with several premieres on social networks, adapted to new forms of creation.
The news of the proposal of the artists from Sancti Spiritus for Juan González Fiffe to obtain the 2021 National Theater Award, is a joy for the culture of Granma.
This fact constitutes a recognition of his work and from this province we support him, with the confidence that his extensive career and his contributions to the Cuban Theater deserve such high distinction.
