To guarantee the quality of the restart of the sports academic year in this eastern Cuban city, the workers of that sector have everything ready for when that important moment arrives that our athletes in training will live in the classrooms, after a long period of inactivity due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
Justino Labrada Rodríguez, head of the department of the Comprehensive Training of High Performance Athletes (FIAAR) at the municipal sports department in Manzanillo, spoke with our editorial staff about some details on the subject.
The specialist pointed out that prior to this restart, the first thing that the workers of this branch did was “support the vaccination campaign by incorporating all teachers, methodologists and those professionals related to the development of athletes in this task, trying to provide the necessary help and making sure that all the children who are in the high performance centers of the municipality attend the vaccination process.
All vaccinated, the school period restarted with the twelfth grade athletes from the Sports Initiation School (Eide) who are receiving teaching at the Alfredo Uset Bertot School, formerly Club Diez”, he said.
Regarding the reincorporation of the other athletes, he pointed out that “the course will soon be restarted for the rest of the grades where all the children will be treated at the Alfredo Uset Sports Academy to receive teaching”, he stressed.
While that moment arrives, the teachers and workers of the municipal Inder are carrying out rehabilitation actions in the different local sports institutions.
«The coaches of our municipality are now engaged in the process of reviving the sports areas, preparing for this reunion, as well as receiving courses, workshops and seminars with a view to training to face the reopening of the course.
We are awaiting the restart of the school period in the municipal education department to adjust and begin the training of all the children who must participate in the next competitive events that are coming up.
Our coaches are supporting the Eide athletes who are receiving teaching in terms of physical preparation, in order to keep them in tune for when the course is restarted they join their respective educational centers and do so with a minimum of conditions to be able to face sports training », explained Labrada Rodríguez.
The manager added that “the foundations are being created from the physical point of view, working fundamentally on the aspects related to aerobic resistance, doing work with capacities such as speed, strengthand resistance as a basic capacity so that when they enter the high-performance centers, their physical capacities are ready for what they are going to face, and to later restart the course with a pedagogical test that is carried out to observe physical condition and from there start the training process, “said the executive.
Another of the activities that they already carried out during this preparation “was the discussion with all those responsible for the sports and the sports categories that up to now are going to compete, to put each teacher with a category when the course restarts. Educators are going to face this return to the classroom with the theoretical preparation necessary for this reopening.
The specialist explained that the categories in which they participate are “the pioneer cups, the student leagues with children from primary ages to junior high school.
We also participate in youth games with the athletes corresponding to the pre-university and technical schools of our municipality, with the purpose of fighting to improve sports results”, he explained.
Now all the centers are ready to receive their girls and boys with the best that could be done during the preparation process. “We recently received a visit from the president of the National Inder in the municipality who made a tour of the sports facilities and provided very good judgment about the current state of our sports facilities to face the course.”
Regarding the aspirations and goals that sports workers have in the territory in this period, he pointed out that “the first of them is to take care, above all, of the athletes of this pandemic that is hitting us.
The second is to surpass all the technical personnel to face the educational teaching process, and finally to improve the sporting results and the contributions to the high performance centers”, concluded Labrada Rodríguez.
Manzanillo is now ready to restart the 2021-2022 school year at the sports facilities, it only remains for that minute to arrive where joy, excitement and enthusiasm fill each of these spaces where our future champions and sports glories of the municipality the province, Cuba and the world are formed.
