In October it was not possible to fulfill the commitment to deliver an additional three pounds of rice per consumer, since that product comes mostly from Vietnam, where due to the impact of Covid-19, its shipment could not be ensured on time, said the Minister of Commerce Inside Betsy Díaz Velázquez.
In this regard the Cuban Minister of Internal Trade reported that the ships are on the journey but it takes 40 to 50 days for the trip, so that product will arrive in the country at the end of this month and it will be delivered immediately.
Betsy Díaz Velázquez clarified that this rice has no relationship whatsoever with that included in the food modules donated by friendly nations, nor with the seven pounds that are sold each month as part of the regulated family basket; None substitutes for another and all do complement each other.
Díaz Velázquez added that at a certain moment it may be the case that in a territory the three deliveries of the cereal itself, basic in the diet of Cubans, coincide at the same time.
