The distribution of chicken eggs from the basic family basket should begin in the next few days in the province of Granma, corresponding to the May quota, which this time is five units per consumer registered in the supply book.
Elsis Mora Ochoa, deputy director of the Poultry Company, reported that it is only possible to sell this number of units due to the deficit in production, which is affected by the lack of animal feed, a situation aggravated by the strict economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States Government.
Mora Ochoa explained that this difficulty, together with the limitations with the fuel supply, among others, affected the marketing of the April egg, which includes units in areas of Jiguaní and Bayamo.
Elvis Núñez Jiménez, director of the base business unit, marketer of meat and eggs, said that with the entry of 300,000 eggs from Ciego de Ávila, the distribution of the previous month and part of the social consumption of several municipalities will be completed.
In addition, he pointed out that more than four million postures will arrive from three other provinces, which corresponds to the national balance, for distribution in May destined for the population and social consumption.
