Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo assured this Tuesday in Granma that the normalization of life after this great battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, with its tendency to win it, implies many challenges.
The manager, in a meeting with the highest authorities of the Party and the Government in the province, learned how the gradual restart of face-to-face activities in schools of the general education system behaves here, as well as the territorial strategy for social work, prevention and care for people, groups and families with situations of vulnerability.
For the analysis of these issues, he was accompanied by the heads of Education, Higher Education and Labor and Social Security, who, prior to the meeting called for that purpose, accompanied him on a tour of the Francisco Vicente Aguilera urban high school, and Pedro Pompa neighborhood. One of those that becomes the provincial head as part of the aforementioned social strategy.
“The recovery of the school year is a necessity of the country, of the families, a political necessity, and it has social and economic impacts, because the fact that the children are reintegrated into school allows parents to also be able to reinsert themselves into economic life” he explained.
By pointing out the challenges in that sense, he explained that during the many months of the pandemic a disengagement of the mechanisms of the system has occurred, students have untrained themselves in a group of subjects and therefore need more methodological help.
He drew attention, in correspondence, to the main concern expressed by the 12th grade students in the aforementioned IPU, which is their preparation for the entrance exams to Higher Education, a process that the teaching staff are in the duty of supporting, while the territory has to strive to create the necessary conditions in each educational institution, including protection.
Regarding social work in Granma, the vice prime minister learned, among other actions, that as part of the social inclusion project for people with disabilities, some 200 were linked to activities in the non-state sector and another hundred with potentialities are identified, in both new social services are created, such as care for the sick, and work is carried out in 13 socially complex communities.
Marta Elena Feito Cabrera, Minister of Labor and Social Security, said that the policies that are implemented in the country in social work have as their essence a rescue of the founding principles of work and social prevention devised by our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
In this regard, it meant prioritizing attention to young people, adolescents and children, and to concrete community social work, which means transformation in the infrastructure works necessary to raise the quality of services, and also, more importantly, to produce social transformations with the active participation of all the inhabitants of each place.
