The immunization campaign in Cuba against Covid-19 is advancing today with more than 200 thousand doses administered daily and organized in a staggered, extensive and intensive manner, health authorities highlighted.
This process has a national character with its own immunogens and full coverage, they specified.
In the opinion of the Director of Science and Innovation and Technology of the Ministry of Public Health, Iliana Morales, it is not a festive event, but rather rigorously materialized, based on a regulatory and ethical component.
From the trial we went on to the study, then to the intervention, to make way for mass vaccination, Morales argued on the radio and television space Mesa Redonda.
We have reasons to be happy, but at the same time committed, declared Morales, who stressed that it is vital to comply with the three doses to achieve immunization.
She reflected on how Cuba has 80.9 percent of its population with at least one dose of some vaccine against Covid-19, but if it is measured as in other countries, the largest of the Antilles would have 92.5.
She specified that the percentage of administered doses reported by Cuba on a daily basis is of the total population.
However, there is another table that is against the vaccinable population, which in good law is what many countries reflect, where convalescents with less than two months who cannot be immunized, patients with acute ailments, those treated in emergency surgeries and other diseases are excluded, those stranded in other countries and children under two years of age.
As a sign of the campaign’s progress, the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices announced the approval of the clinical trial with the Soberana Plus vaccine for convalescent patients in pediatric cases, which will be carried out with 530 children.
This decision is made after the completion of phase I and II of clinical studies, with Cuban and international regulations, based on scientific evidence and good practices.
