The 2021 Provincial Journalism Awards in Granma were announced this Tuesday through the Facebook profile of the territory’s media.
On this occasion, the Rubén Castillo Ramos Award for the Work of Life 2021 was to the experienced reporter of La Demajagua newspaper Orlando Fombellida Claro.
According to the jury, Fombellida Claro deserves it, among other merits, for his daily battle in defense of the Cuban Revolution, with ethics, professionalism and political and ideological commitment, with 47 yearsof work dedicated to the profession with informative relevance, skill and technical knowledge.
Also, the creditors of the Bartolomé Martí Pons Award, For the Work of the Year were released, for which they took into account the health circumstances that Cuba and the World are experiencing due to Covid-19 and the communicative work of these reporters during this time.
On this occasion the prize would be in Television to Lizet Márquez Gómez, in Radio to Milena Céspedes Milan, in Digital Press Yunior García Ginarte, in Written Press Osviel Castro Medel and in Gráfica Luis Carlos Palacios Leyva.
Regarding the Cuban Press Day in Granma, the winners of the Dania Casalí Ramírez Opinion Journalism contest were also announced.
Among the 92 works in competition by 21 journalists, in all categories the first place was to Inés Castro Machado on Television, for the report Odisea de la recolección del mango, with second place to Darelia Díaz Borrero, for the Digital and face-to-face resellers work and the third place went to Pedro Fonseca for Car prices: benefits and damages.
Likewise, in the Radio category, Yunel Hernández Batista won first place with the report Rechazo popular a inescrupulosos, the second prize was to Annia Pacheco Palomares, for the report Utilidad de la pesquisa en el hogar and the third prize went to Milena Céspedes Milan, the work Picología en centros de aislamientos.
In the Graphics section, photojournalist Rafael Martínez Arias received the award.
Likewise, in the Digital category, journalist Darelia Díaz Borrero won the first prize with El dulce amargo de la zafra in Granma, second place went to Osviel Castro Medel, for Ojeada a un no relincho de los potros de Granma and third place to Geidis Arias Peña, for La Piel Tallada.
In addition, Osviel Castro Medel received the first prize in the Written Press, the second place went to Yasel Toledo Garnache and the third prize was obtained by Anaisis Hidalgo Rodríguez.
On this oaccsio, the jury decided to award Yunel Hernández Batista by the Unique (Occasional) Covid-19 Award for timely treatment of the fight against the pandemic with details, analysis, recommendations, and informative skills, on provincial radio and television.
