As every December 2nd, 82 young people from this province will recall the landing of the Granma yacht symbolically by Los Cayuelos, site of the current municipality of Niquero.
This year the event will be dedicated to Fidel and the other 81 expeditionaries, to the next Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC) – in April 2020 – and the 63th anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, which was born on December 2, 1956.
The traditional political-cultural act will be held next Monday at the Portada de la Libertad Monument, in which the need for Latin American unity and the importance of the continuity will be highlighted, according to Michel Santiesteban, member of the Provincial Bureau of the UJC.
On this time, the act will have fewer amount of attendees from other municipalities, but it will be loaded of patriotism and will send a resounding message: even in the most difficult times, the new generations do not forget the sacred events of history, the leader added.
On the eve of the historical date, a cultural evening will take at the Portada de la Libertad Monument, in which hundreds of young people from Niquero will participate.
Also, a group of pioneers and young people will camp in homage to the men who carried out the risky journey from Mexico to the Cayuelos between November 25 and December 2, 1956.
