The People´s Power of Granma is a local higher body of state power in which government and administrative functions are combined.
On November 7, 1976, the province of Granma was constituted, when Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz delivered a speech at La Demajagua where he pointed out that the East was not divided, but multiplied. With the advent of the new province, on November 7, 1976, the Provincial Assembly of People´s Power in Granma was constituted, in the premises of the City Council of Bayamo, being elected as its first president Pedro García Lupiañez. The offices were located in this facility, but the assembly sessions were held at the “General Milanés” Technical School. In 1979 it was moved to the current location, 63, Frank País Avenue, Jesus Menendez Neighborhood, Bayamo, Granma.
